JOSEPH A. HYLAND
is an Associate with the firm. He received his J.D. from St. John's School of Law in 1999. As a law student, he interned as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Joseph P. Sullivan of the Appellate Division, First Department.

Mr. Hyland was admitted to practice in the State of New York as well as the Southern and Eastern U.S. District Courts of New York in 2000. He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. Mr. Hyland concentrates in the areas of:

JAMES M. KERINS
is an Associate with the firm and is admitted to practice law in the State of New York, Eastern District of New York and the Southern District of New York. Mr. Kerins is also seeking admission to practice law in the State of Florida. Mr. Kerins received his J.D. from St. John’s School of Law in 2017. As a law student, he was the recipient of the St. John’s Court of Appeals Fellowship and interned as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Stephen A. Bucaria of Nassau County Supreme Court, Commercial Division. Mr. Kerins was also an active member and board member of the St. John’s University Moot Court Honor Society.

Mr. Kerins focuses on estate litigation matters such as probate contests, discovery proceedings, accounting proceedings, kinship proceedings and other miscellaneous litigation related to trusts and estates. He has also been appointed as guardian ad litem, by various Surrogates in several counties to represent minors, unknown heirs and incapacitated individuals.

Mr. Kerins concentrates in Elder Law/Medicaid Planning as well as the drafting of various Estate Planning documents, such as wills, trusts, health care proxies, powers of attorney and living wills and disposition of remains. James also advises clients on the issues that may arise from administering an estate in addition to their potential tax consequences.

Mr. Kerins is sensitive to the needs of each individual client. He provides them with the time and attention and the tools to understand how to best navigate their matter. Mr. Kerins concentrates in the areas of:
