LAWRENCE MAHON
is the managing member of the firm. He was counsel to the Public Administrator of Nassau County from 1988-2000 during which time he handled the administration of hundreds of estates. Mr. Mahon taught continuing education courses in estates and real estate at St. John’s University from 1987 to 1991.
Mr. Mahon received his B.A. degree from SUNY at Albany and his J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law where he served as Associate Managing Editor of Law Review. He was admitted to practice law in New York in 1986.
Mr. Mahon is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Nassau County Bar Association Trusts and Estates Sections. He is a past President of the Chaminade High School Alumni Association and The Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick on Long Island. He is a frequent lecturer in the areas of trusts and estates and estate planning and has spoken for the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, National Business Institute as well as numerous other organizations on Long Island.

KENNETH P. MAHON
is a member of the firm. He was counsel to the Public Administrator of Nassau County from 1988-2001.
Mr. Mahon received his B.A. degree from St. Lawrence University and his J.D. degree from St. John's University School of Law. In addition, Mr. Mahon studied at the Amerika Institut in Vienna, Austria, and speaks German. Mr. Mahon is admitted to practice law in the States of New York and Florida.
Mr. Mahon is a member of the New York State, Florida and Nassau County Bar Associations and is also active in the NYSBA and NCBA Trusts and Estates Sections. He is a frequent lecturer in the areas of trusts, estates, estate litigation and estate planning, having spoken for the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, Academy of Law and Speaker's Bureau and National Business Institute, Inc. as well as before numerous other organizations in the Community.

RICHARD T. KERINS
is a member of the firm. Prior to 1987, Mr. Kerins was the Senior Court Officer to Hon. C. Raymond Radigan, the Nassau County Surrogate and a uniformed Court Officer in Nassau County Family Court. He was appointed Nassau County Public Administrator on September 1, 1999. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Deputy Public Administrator for 11 years. He oversaw the administration of thousands of estates.
Mr. Kerins received his Bachelors Degree from Long Island University, C W Post, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1982. He received his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law in 1987 having graduated in the top 15% of his class. In 1986 at St. John’s, he received the American Jurisprudence Award for Trusts and Estates. He was admitted to practice in 1987.
In 1997, Mr. Kerins received the Merit Award from the Fraternal Order of Court Officers (FOCO), and in 1998, he received the Jurisperitus Award for Legal Service from the Court Officers Benevolent Association of Nassau County (COBANC).
Mr. Kerins is a member of the New York State and Nassau County Bar Associations. He has lectured in the area of Trusts and Estates for the New Your State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association, Hofstra University School of Law and the National Business Institute.

ROBERT P. O’BRIEN
is a member of the firm. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. O’Brien was an attorney with Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and a partner of O’Brien, McLaughlin & Kenny. Equally at home in State and Federal Court, he has litigated cases on Long Island, as well as all of the boroughs of New York City.
Mr. O’Brien graduated with honors from St. John’s University, where he majored in Criminal Justice. He earned his Law Degree in 1987 from St. John’s as well, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. Mr. O’Brien is admitted to practice law in New York, and in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
Mr. O’Brien is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, National Employment Lawyers Association/New York and New York State Trial Lawyers Association.

JOHN P. MAHON
is the founder of Mahon, Mahon, Kerins & O’Brien, LLC and is now Of Counsel to the firm. On November 22, 2008, Mr. Mahon will be celebrating 60 years admission to the New York State Bar.
Mr. Mahon attended St. Francis College until he entered Military Service in 1942. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army Air Corp/U.S. Air Force in 1945, Mr. Mahon attended St. John’s University. In 1948, he obtained his J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review. He then obtained his LL.M in Labor Law and Aviation Law from New York University in 1952.
Mr. Mahon is a member of the American Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association and a Charter Member of the Catholic Lawyers Guild. He has been a frequent lecturer and active member of the Nassau County Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, American Bar Association, Catholic Lawyers and many Elder Law Community Service Groups including:

LAWRENCE P. MURPHY
has been working Of Counsel to the firm since leaving the Unified Court System in 2002. Prior to joining the firm, he was employed in the Surrogate’s Courts of Kings County, Queens County and Nassau County. From 1972 until 1986, Mr. Murphy was a Court Attorney Referee at the Kings County Surrogate’s Court. From 1986 until 1994, he served as the Chief of the Law Department of the Queens County Surrogate’s Court. From 1994 until 2002, Mr. Murphy served as a Court Attorney Referee in the Nassau County Surrogate’s Court.
Mr. Murphy graduated from Fordham College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He attended Fordham Law School and received a Juris Doctor degree in 1970. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, the Nassau County Bar Association and the Queens County Bar Association. He is admitted to practice in New York and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts.
Mr. Murphy dedicated 30 years of his life to public service in the Court System of New York State. He is well known in the trusts and estates community and is consistently sought out by fellow trust and estates attorneys for consultations or referrals on difficult or unusual cases. For the past 27 years, Mr. Murphy has been a member of the Bureau of Speakers of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn and a panelist on their Annual Trusts and Estates Seminar. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association Trust and Estate Section and was the 10th District Representative on the Executive Board for three years.

JOSEPH A. HYLAND
is an Associate with the firm. He received his J.D. from St. John’s School of Law in 1999. As a law student, he interned as a Law Clerk for the Hon. Joseph P. Sullivan of the Appellate Division, First Department.
Mr. Hyland was admitted to practice in the State of New York as well as the Southern and Eastern U.S. District Courts of New York in 2000. He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

PAUL J. FELLIN
joined the firm as an Associate in August 2006. He started with the firm as a Law Clerk during his second and third years of law school.
Mr. Fellin graduated Cum Laude in May 2006 from St. John’s University School of Law. In law school, he was a Notes and Comments Editor for the St. John’s Journal of Legal Commentary and a recipient of the Saint Thomas More Scholarship. He received his B.S. in Finance from St. John’s University in 2003. Mr. Fellin was admitted to practice law in New York in 2006 and in Florida in 2007.
